LORD OF THE FLIES SOCIETY PROJECT
As we can see in “Lord of the Flies”, the boys try to set up a society with rules, leaders, and jobs. The question is what makes a society? You will be creating your own society with governments and leaders. You will have notes on four different types of government, and you will either choose one of these governments, or elements from each one to create your own society. Your society and government need to make sense in the context of the notes you took, and the novel you are reading.
Each society must have these elements:
1. A government with a title

b. Create your own, give it a name and tell what that name means
2. President, king, emperor, dictator
a. Create your own position, give it a name and explain what the leader does
b. Anyone can be the leader
3. Ten rules/laws for your society
a. Freedoms/restrictions of the people
b. Role of the government (powers and restrictions)
c. Punishments for people who break the law
d. Information specific to the government you pick or create
4. Optional ideas
a. Map of the country/map of the capital city with government buildings
b. Portrait of the leader
b. Create your own, give it a name and tell what that name means
